Incorporated in 1988, Cue Stock Inc., located in western New York, is owned and operated by William Dominiak. Our primary focus is manufacturing hard maple pool cue shafts for the billiards industry.

Starting with a high-grade hard maple log harvested in western New York, the log is then precision sawn. The resulting boards are edged, cut to length, and hand-loaded into our 2,000 bf vacuum kiln to be dried. Next, the boards are processed into 1”x 30” turning squares (pool cue shaft blanks). These pool cue shaft blanks are dowelled, graded, turned by a CNC lathe into tapers or finish cue shaft form, graded again, and finally, shipped to pool cue manufacturers and pool cue repairmen around the world.

In addition to the conventional pool cue shaft blank, we’ve developed a high performance "Dominator" eight-piece radial laminated pool cue shaft. The “Dominator” has become a popular upgrade for customers looking for cutting edge technology in their pool cues. Our advantage here is our capability to produce a high-grade quarter-sawn lumber, which is essential in producing the pool cue laminated shafts.

In 1993, Mr. Dominiak traveled to Houston, Texas to study the art of pool cue making with master pool cue maker Leonard Bludworth. Since then, we have developed our own line of hand built pool cues and have successfully marketed them. This knowledge and ability helps us to be keenly sympathetic to our customers’ needs.

Many companies offering hard maple stock for pool cue making simply do not have an interest in producing stock with the specifications that make for suitable high quality pool cue shaft wood. As a result, pool cue makers must buy more pool cue stock than they need with the hope that a certain percentage will be usable.
