Incorporated in 1988, Cue Stock Inc., located in western New York, is owned and operated by William Dominiak. Our primary focus is manufacturing hard maple turning blanks for the billiards industry.

Starting with a high-grade hard maple log harvested in western New York, the log is then precision sawn. The resulting boards are edged, cut to length, and hand-loaded into our 2,000 bf vacuum kiln to be dried. Next, the boards are processed into 1”x 30” turning squares (shaft blanks). These shaft blanks are dowelled, graded, turned by a CNC lathe into tapers or finish shaft form, graded again, and finally, shipped to cue manufacturers and cue repairmen around the world.

In addition to the conventional shaft blank, we’ve developed a high performance "Dominator" eight-piece radial laminated shaft. The “Dominator” has become a popular upgrade for customers looking for cutting edge technology in their cues. Our advantage here is our capability to produce a high-grade quarter-sawn lumber, which is essential in producing the laminated shafts.

In 1993, Mr. Dominiak traveled to Houston, Texas to study the art of cue making with master cue maker Leonard Bludworth. Since then, we have developed our own line of hand built cues and have successfully marketed them. This knowledge and ability helps us to be keenly sympathetic to our customers’ needs.

Many companies offering hard maple stock for cue making simply do not have an interest in producing stock with the specifications that make for suitable high quality shaft wood. As a result, cue makers must buy more cue stock than they need with the hope that a certain percentage will be usable.

Focusing on products for the billiards industry, along with our knowledge of cue making, has helped us gain a competitive edge. Our customers appreciate that this is all we do and their specific needs can be met.
